Sugar Detox Plan
Do you have sugar cravings that often feel unmanageable?
‼️Sugar addiction is as real as drug addiction.‼️
Sugar quite literally shuts down our immune systems. In the US, we have a candy holiday, followed by a pie holiday, followed by a cookie holiday, then a drinking holiday, and finally a chocolate holiday, all in a row… yes somehow it’s known as “cold and fl- season”.
Now, my friends and I are getting ahead of sugar before it gets ahead of us!
We are about to start a group sugar detox that will finish up right before Halloween.
What can you expect if you join us in the sugar detox?
✨No more cravings!
✨A stronger immune system!
✨Clearer skin!
✨A healthier gut!
✨A sharper mind!
✨Less inflammation throughout your whole body!
Other than the well know issues like obesity, tooth decay, and diabetes, here’s what else excessive sugar can cause in your body and mind –
❗️Depression
❗️Premature aging
❗️Metabolic syndrome
❗️Liver disease
❗️Heart disease
❗️High cholesterol
❗️Alzheimer’s
We are doing this as a group October 1-30, 2024, but if you’re reading this after the fact, or can’t make it work during that time, feel free to adjust to your own dates. I’m happy to customize a detox calendar for you if you need help. Just message me 🙂
Supplementing
All the supplements we will be using to support our bodies during this simple suagr detox come in this bundle. Sugar Detox Bundle
Our supplement routine will look like this for the whole month-
This herbal blend is taken by mouth to promote healthy digestion and to combat bad microbes in the gut which contribute to excessive sugar cravings.
Use 20 drops a day, mixed into a glass water, and drink with either breakfast, lunch, or with your bone broth.
If you didn’t get the bundle, you can also get this tincture on it’s own here- Digest Ease Tincture
This herbal tea supports digestion while working to heal a leaky gut, which is a common occurance in those with heavy cravings for sugar and starch.
Once a day, add about 1.5 tsp of this loose leaf tea to a mug, pour boiling water over top, and steep for 5-10 min before straining and drinking. I highly recommend drinking this tea at bedtime so it can do it’s healing work in your gut while you sleep, but any time you can drink it is ok.
While we sometimes offer this tea on it’s own, we currently only have enough available to sell it in combination with the suagr detox bundle.
Detox Tincture (optional)
If you’re looking to detox more than just sugar cravings during this month, grab the premium bundle which includes this tincture, as well as our Detox Bath Tea. This tincture activates your bodies detox pathways, supports glutathione production, supports your liver in flushing out toxins, supports lymphatic flow, and fights inflammation.
To use the tincture, simply add 20 drops to a glass of water and drink. Best used firts thing in the morning. To use the bath tea, add 1/4 cup to a hot bathtub, or a foot bath, and soak for 20-30 minutes.
The Detox tincture is also available on it’s own- Detox Tincture
And so is the Detox bath Tea.
*These detox options are not suitable for children under the age of 4, nor pregnant or nursing mothers.
Foods we’re eliminating for the entire month-
Processed sugar and all foods containing it
Artificial sweeteners and sugar free sweeteners
Food dyes
Artificial flavors
Alcohol
Sweetened drinks of all kinds, even fruit juices, and even “sugar free” sweet tasting drinks
Any foods you already know you are intolerant to
Days 1-3, Bone Broth Fast (optional)
Oct 1-3
For the first 1, 2, or 3 days, I highly recommend fasting and only consuming both broth and water. 2-3 days is optimal, but you can discern what’s right for you. You can drink as MUCH bone broth as you want, but I’d suggest at least 1 quart worth per day. I will be personally drinking 2 quarts a day.
Rich in healing collagen and protien, this broth is a staple to repair gut damage from sugar, and conquering cravings through nutrition. Our concentrated broth means that one pint mixes the equivalent of 2 quarts of broth, so with the two pints that come in our bundle, you can mix up to 4 quarts worth.
If you want additional broth, it’s available here.
Young children, pregnant and nursing moms, diabetics, and those with certain other medical conditions should not attempt a fast. Check with your own doctor. If a fast is not right for you, consider simply starting each day with a steaming cup of broth instead of replacing an entire days food with broth alone.
First Week (after fast)
Through Oct 5th (if your adjusting dates, shoot for the first week in a calendar month, but at least 4 days)
During this week, your sugar cravings will come to a peak, and then disapear! In my experience, after 3 days of a bone broth fast, the cravings are completely GONE, and my body only longs for real, whole foods. It may take an extra day or two to break those cravings if you aren’t able to do the bone broth fast first.
*If you are skipping the bone broth fast, you’ll follow this plan for the whole first week instead. (Oct 1-5)
During this week, avoid the following foods in addition to what was already listed above:
High starch veggies (potato, sweet potato, beet, peas, carrots, parsnip, beans)
Fruits of all kinds
Grains of all kinds
Anything sweet tasting
Natural sweeteners (honey, stevia, maple syrup, agave, coconut sugar, date syrup, etc.)
Dairy products
You’re focus will be on non starchy veggies, animal proteins, and healthy fats. You’re basically going keto for only 4-7 days. But no need to count macros. 😉
Even though some of those natural sweetners aren’t inherently “bad” they still feed and fuel sugar cravings, and the microbes that cause them!
If you need to use a little honey medicinally, that is ok. Example- fermented lemon honey for a cold (available here-https://judahshaven.com/product/fermented-honey-gift-set-option-9/ ) just be mindful to use only what you need and not to over-do it.
Weeks 2-4
Oct 6-26 (if your adjusting dates, shoot for 2-3 weeks in the middle of the calendar month)
After week, one, we will add back in fruit and veggies of all kinds. No fruits or veggies are off limits for this period, just as long as they are in their natural form. We are NOT going to be comsuming them juiced or dried though (and not in the form of fruit leather or any type of gummy treat) becuase this concentrates the sugars and the rate at whoch our blood sugar raises.
We will also add back in quinoa, as a high protien, high fiber grain option. No other grain yet though.
Continue to stay away from the natural sweeteners, even sugar free ones, during this time.
Remember, this is not forever. This is to train our bodies off of being addicted to sweets.
Weeks 4
Oct 27-30 (if adjusting dates, shoot for the last week of any calendar month)
For the final week, we will add back in whole grains and natural sweeteners like dates, agave, honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar.
The last week is a time to practice eating healthful, wholesome sweets moderately. Without eating processed food, and without overdoing it!
This is a great time to bake your own sweets, and we’ve got tons of great wholesome recipes here in our Facebook group.
Can I eat dairy during the sugar detox?
Whether or not you will include dairy, I will leave up to you. If you choose to include dairy, I would suggest only using dairy that is all fat, like butter, or heavy cream, or dairy that is fermented like cheese and unsweetened yogurt, AND waiting until week two to include it. This is because milk has a moderately high natural sugar content. When it’s fermented , as in yogurt or Kiefer or cheese, those sugars are cultured away, eaten up by the beneficial bacteria. I’m choosing to consume dairy for the most part during this time, because milk products tends to cause inflammation in my body, and further irritate whatever issues I’ve got going on. If you do choose to consume dairy, I highly suggest using raw pasture raised dairy from a local farm. It is far less inflammatory and much easier on the gut than conventional dairy, filled with hormones and antibiotics. Remember, this is a time to support our bodies and foster a healthier relationship with food. If you’ve considered trying a dairy free, this detox IS a great time to try it and see how you feel!
