These dehydrated live grains are to be rehydrated and then used to brew probiotic rich beverages. They can be used again and again, endlessly, and will multiply as you use them.
Water Kefir grains are brewed with filtered water and organic cane sugar, into lacto-fermented water kefir soda. Thanks to its probiotic properties, water kefir is great for our microbiome — the teeny tiny microorganisms that live in our gut. You definitely want to be kind to this internal system because it plays a vital role in digestion, weight management, blood regulation, and the immune system. Water kefir contains a greater number of bacterial strains than are found in kombucha. Lactobacillus kefiri, a unique probiotic found in kefir, has been shown to inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria such as salmonella, h-pylori and e-coli – helping to restore the balance of good bacteria, reduce inflammation, the symptoms of leaky gut and auto-immune diseases. A small glass of fresh kefir may contain about 30 different strains of bacteria – and up to 1.5 trillion beneficial bacteria – that’s more than 100 times as many as you’d find a probiotic supplement capsule.
Milk Kefir is even richer in probiotics than water kefir. Milk Kefir grains are brewed in milk to make a yogurt-like drink.
